Diagnostic Radiology

Diagnostic Radiology includes traditional X-rays that are used to gain information about the inside of the body. The structure of bones, organs, tumors and other tissues can be examined by an X-ray. An X-ray is a form of radiation, in the form of a beam. The X-ray is directed to pass through the body and strike photographic film, producing a picture that can be used by physicians to help diagnose disease, illness and injury.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) produces images by using a magnetic field and radio wave energy. This test provides pictures of organs and structures inside the body, which often cannot be seen with regular x-rays. Because it provides the best and most detailed images of tissues containing fluid, MRI is often used to detect conditions that would affect the amount of fluid in a tissue. These include soft tissue injury, tumors, bleeding, infection and inflammation.
