Dr. Barry W. Morgan has practiced medicine in Georgia since 1984. He has Board Certification in Emergency and practiced emergency medicine full-time until he opened the Summit Occupational Medicine Clinic in Newnan in 2001. His interest in occupational medicine began over twenty years ago when he was asked to be a medical advisor for a local aluminum extrusion plant. As that interest grew, he later became instrumental in the development of an occupational medicine program at the hospital where he practiced emergency medicine. Understanding the importance of good communication between the provider and the company representatives was instrumental in the success of that program. Dr. Morgan believes a provider should know the employer and the worksite and the types of injuries that might occur.
At Summit Occupational Medicine, the clinic’s primary focus is to be THE medical resource for their client companies. The clinic provides occupational medicine and workers compensation information for local industries. The goal is to not only offer comprehensive care for injuries but to answer those difficult questions that arise daily in the scope of industrial medicine and human resources. To support that end, in 2002, “The Breakfast Club” was started. This is a networking, educational, and training resource to local company representatives where experts are invited to come and discuss topics of interest. Offering breakfast and an opportunity to personally consult with each speaker.
“The Breakfast Club” has become a training site for safety, human resources, and risk managers of Newnan, Peachtree City and the southwest Atlanta area. Any one is welcomed, from CEO’s to First Responders, and the topics change monthly. Many attendees and speakers travel considerable distances for this exchange of information.
